I reviewed the photos I took over the short break with both my dad and M today. I got the usual 'messy'/ 'horrible'/ 'terrible'/ 'where is your four point'/ 'if this was submitted to a competition and I was the judge I would have failed it right away' comments slapped into my face from my dad. Funny thing though he said that my style changed:3 I don't know if he meant that it changed for the better but he asked me to tag along and shoot at an event with him this Sunday O.O STRESS.
I went into the photo studio today and it was so different than how I imagined all studios would look like>.< For the first time in my entire life, the walls were black! Its so cool! I should seriously consider painting my room black! Or some baroque colour as I am getting quite sick of orange.
After a nice chat with M, I kind of realized that I was still afraid:( Afraid of going closer and approaching people which is why my photos are still lacking of that final touches. Shooting from the waist is nice and all but I have to get closer and really start thinking about my composition instead of pointing my subjects to the center and pray and I will get my composition right.
The Junjou shoot was quite alright but my exposure was off the charts and I was in control! I got too fixed up about my subject's expression at that shoot that I neglected to tune my exposure and watch out for the lovely lines and colours that are appearing in the background unknowingly.
But the point is that I was afraid. Its just so frustrating that I could have gotten a good shot but was too afraid to go closer. Its like I know I can do it! But I am afraid and I think too much>.>
Ah wells. I will do better for my next few shoots especially the one on Sunday >.<
To be able to approach in a way that you are able to blend into the surroundings and be part of that moment. Its easier said than done but I will get there because I trust.
