Mai engrish is berry powderful.

I went down to the Chinatown market yesterday for a short shoot as things are not going as plan for the shoot with the dance team. My schedule is really hectic and their practice timings are all over the place so it is rather hard for me to find a time to work with them. Ah wells. The shoot in the market was not too bad given the time constrains and there were a few shots which I liked! I would preferred to have more time and wait for human touches here and there but I have to move on. Given that, I would probably go back to shoot again on Saturday if I am really unable to work with the dance team. At least I have some images to show for the photo class!

A while back, YS was doing research on how 'diverse' the English language is and asked me about Singapore's really unique brand of English -Singlish.

To start of, I am not an 'anti-Singlish' person. In fact, I use it without thinking especially when I am with my school mates or within the doll community. My sentence structure for English is rather screwed as I am using the Japanese way of forming a sentence whereby the most important point goes first and I beat around the bush a lot. Honestly, I never actually got the hang of adjectives, nouns, verbs and passive form or the what nots in the English language's sentence structure until I attended my Japanese classes two years back. I literately went like 'oh! So swimming is a verb!' As embarrassing as it is for an eighteen year-ed old who struggles with her spelling daily, telling me to form a sentence using the queen's English is really tough. The hardest part comes when I draft up my emails to you guys. In order to be understood, using Singlish is a big nono.

When I would like to ask a simple question like: Is it going to snow at the place where you are in, I have to phrase it really differently for different emails.

For those using the Queen's English, I would phrase it as: How likely would be for snow to occur tonight?

For the Americans, Do you think it will snow later?

For the 'chapalangs mostly Asians/ Europeans/ New Zealanders, I would phrase it as: Will it snow? or a cruder way of saying it specifically to Singaporeans, Got snow anot?

For those using the Queen's English, you would find that the way I phrased it for the American is really weird because you guys don't 'think'... You either know or don't know if it is going to snow. Just like the time I remember asking someone: 'what do you think the weather would be like later?' I got a straight slap of 'I don't think about the weather. I know it is going to rain.' T_T
So you would probably struggle while reading my blog 8D

To me, Singlish is a really interesting way of human adaptation. I struggle with my languages partially because I know too many languages...
So Singlish was developed as a kind of Language that is easily understood by people who speaks Chinese as their main language. As much as we hate to admit it, probably more then half of the Singaporeans who are Chinese can trace their roots back to China and when they are forced to pick up English, they adapted and came up with Singlish -the Chinese way of speaking English.

Love it or hate it, Singlish is here to stay and I am a user of it as well which is what makes this world so interesting.

Pasted on a watermelon package.

In the toilet.

This one is just for laughs. Think again 8D

Speaking of languages,  jkt stated a fact that I seemed to have forgotten probably because I hang out with people of so many different races and nationality that, as quoted: 'We can't be anti-chinese! We are chinese!!'
Yessu. I am Chinese 8D
Usually, I use the term 'Asian' instead of Chinese but when I read that tag, I just went 'Oh thats right! I AM Chinese!' Good job to myself for forgetting my own race<3

In fact, while I was at the Chinatown market, I was really intrigued by one of the giant dead fish they had and I asked the shop owner what kind of fish that was.
He replied: Zhong Yu.
So I just repeated after him to the best of my ability: Zhong Yu.
But he went like 'no no no! Its not 'zhong yu' de zhong (It means 'finally' in Chinese) its 'ZHONG YU'

God knows the name of the stupid fish as I am still unable to pronounce it.

I sent S off to the airport yesterday free dinner and ice cream and I am officially 'hairdresser-less' until next April T_T
Then again, have I told anyone how much I LOVE CURLS 8D
I stare at the mirror everyday admiring my curls! So I would really like to thank him for giving me the opportunity to owe these beautiful curls<333

I will be jobless even sooner than I thought as Atsuki is closing down on the 15th of May but I feel that this is a really good start as I can finally spend more time shooting! I hope to get my paypal account up and running my the 6th of May so wish me good luck!
During dinner, Haya-san made a very interesting observation about why I do not excatly enjoy working at Atsuki. And that is because as quoted, 'you like surrounding yourself with beautiful things to admire.'
Get the connection? 8D

I find this really true! Especially back in those days whereby my money tree grew money and I am still using the traditional snail mail, I would buy those really cute paper with all kind of cute decorations and sparkles which costs like my current expenditure for the entire week. The thing is, I would not use them. I normally use either the one with rabbits or the cream paper. I think you guys know which one(: And as for those decorative paper, I would take them out every week when I am about to draft out my letters and  prepare to use them, decide against it and stare admire them. I have an entire stack of them! But as the story goes, my money tree died and I sold most of the paper away...

Point is, I just have this obsession with all things beautiful and it is killing my wallet.... The Alice Diary is one of the best example ever. Oh and this obsession is especially so with butterflies, rabbits and all things 'Alice' Which is why I make it a point to style my girls with three points in mind. Gorgeous, stunning and of course beautiful. yessu I am arrogant and proud 8D shoot me (:

Looking back, I guess M gave me one of the best photo topics to work on 8D
Beauty with human touches. I love that theme but things happen and we just have to move on~
But I did not excatly disappoint myself too much as I worked hard and pushed myself during the holidays and came up with 'beautiful' images. Partially.

I would really like to go on about another topic on photography to end my train of thoughts but I shall leave for tonight if I am still in the blogging mode(:

Lastly, I might consider moving this blog to wordpress or locking it up on a whole due to various reasons:3
What do you guys think? 8D
