TRAUMA

The shoot is OVERRRRRRR!!!!!

Lets talk about the traumatizing shoot later and start with the random stuff that happened today.

I can haz a new phone O.O again.
Yup. Its official. I own a white Nokia N97 mini and it cost me 100SGD 8D
Its actually due to the fact that my mum can't get use to a touch phone so she swapped the N97 for my 6300 and I just had to top up an additional 70SGD! Which makes me so broke I think I really have to eat grass next week... I might or might not be keeping the N97 as I really need the cash right now>.< But for now I shall just enjoy its awesome features and awesome web browsing speed as compared to my renoir! Shall post up pictures of the N97 mini soon<333

Alrights. Moving on the the shoot.

I used the 24-70mm L lens today!

Its a really really pretty lens! But I am not used to it at all>.>
I hardly ever use zoom lenses and even if I do, I always preset my focal length. So asking me to use a zoom lens to frame up my subject is really challenging as I am not fast enough and zooming makes my composition is really tight>.> Besides, somehow whenever I zoom, it almost always ends up at the 35mm.

I worked with the ex-speed lite 350II or something like that, the extra battery grip and the L lens made of pure SOLID glass. Which made my camera really really heavy>.> It was so heavy that I could hardly lift it up with one hand and I get very tired holding it up with both my hands>< Point is, since it is so heavy, I tend to accidentally shift the focal length while I am taking a shot causing camera shake, zooming effect and lovely 'delete me please' pictures.

Before I started shooting, the only thing I knew about this shoot was that it is a birthday party. I thought that I would be dealing with a SMALL group of nice civilized kids who would smile and pose nicely for me. DUM DUM DUM...

The shoot location was held at the function room of Bayshore where C lives! *cough*superrichpeople*cough*
There were about 90+ people who attended O.o Think 20+ screaming kids running around bursting balloons, crying, shouting, 60+ adults talking with really loud Indian music at the background trapped in a room about twice the size of my living room. Madness.

I pushed myself for the composition today and it was pretty alright but my exposure was off the charts. I have not touched a flash for some hundred million years so recalling how to shoot with the ambiance light in a room whereby the lighting condition changes from florescence to tungsten and the lights occasionally blinks is really horrible. I got told off by my dad so many times when I could not adjust my depth of field in time and lost a shot. Screw F8. Like seriously.

So I had to put on a sparkle-ly 'i love kids aura' for the shoot and it does not help that I had a block nose and the kids were screaming>.> Some of them were nice enough to smile at me. Others just ran away and some even tried to stuff balloons in my view finder>.< Thank god I used a lens hood.

All in all, it is a really traumatizing shoot! I shot 8GB worth of raw images which is 611 shots in 4 hours. The only fun part about his shoot was that they provided wine and ice-cream. Other than that, I seriously prefer not to work with kids.
I still have a lot to learn with regards to event shoots, ambiance lights and approaching people. I am not very happy with today's shoot but I would rate myself a border line pass due to the fact that I kept clam and interacted with the kids pretty well(:

I am so looking forward to my next shoot WITHOUT kids.
